Chimpanzee Trekking in Uganda – Best Places to See Wild Chimpanzees

There are many places to view chimpanzees in Uganda but some are not protected areas like Kibale forest, Kyambura gorge, Kalinzu forest and Budongo forest. Visitors who go for chimpanzee habituation trekking tours get special experience as they can see different primate species in their natural forest home without just watching them from a platform. They can also experience the life and character of chimps during the full day habituation process.

Kibale Forest National Park famous place for chimpanzee trekking safaris in Uganda has quite a number of fun activities including nature walks, chimpanzee habituation, Bigodi wetland walk, and Bird watching and primate identification. The best time to explore this park is all year but most fantastic during the rainy seasons from late March, April, May, June and mid-October- early December.

Budongo Forest Reserve  a place to find a high population of wild chimpanzees and the habituated  in Kaniyo Pabidi which is just close to Murchison falls National Park the biggest wildlife reserve in Uganda that has famed to the world because of the might fall with thunderous waters that fight a battle with rocks through a narrow gorge. Though Uganda has many chimpanzee trekking grounds, Budongo forest is among the best chimpanzee habitats in Uganda with 600 individuals and about 100 habituated.
