The population of Uganda is 40,000,000 according to 2018 estimates.
Kampala city, the capital is about 3,000,000.
About 51% are female with 43.5% of whom belonging to the 15 – 49 age group. The percentage of the population in the age group 0 – 9 (children) is 33.9%, 10 – 19 (early adolescence) is 24.1%, 10 – 24 (early and late adolescence) is 33.3%, 25 – 30 (young adults) is 12.3%. The percentage of population aged 15 – 64 is 47% and above 65 years is 3%. The percentage of urban and rural population is 14% and 86% respectively. Orphans (defined as a child with one or both parent(s) dead) account for about 7% of Uganda’s population. Annual population growth rate (natural increase) is 2.7% and death per 1,000 population is 21.
